Torbreck is one of Barossa’s most prolific producers, focusing on Rhône-style wines and old vines.
Owner Pete Kight has made significant investments, and the superstar team of winemaker Ian Hongell and viticulturist Nigel Blieschke has meant the wines are on an upswing of late.
Torbreck pays tribute to the Barossa with minimal intervention, creating wines of richness, structure and length that age gracefully.
96 Points Robert Parker Wine Advocate
The 2003 The Factor (100% Shiraz aged 24 months in old French oak) is a riveting effort that displays the exquisite talent of David Powell. Its smoky perfume of blackberry liqueur intermixed with cherries, acacia flowers, and espresso roast is followed by a full-throttle, multi-layered palate as well as a 60-second finish.
96 Points James Halliday
Immensely powerful and concentrated aromas; a full-bodied, richly robed array of black fruits, spice, licorice, vanilla and chocolate; persistent, ripe tannins. Ultra-careful fruit selection has paid big dividends. Quality cork.
