Henri Boillot has in a very short space of time build an extraordinary reputation for the sheer quality of his Burgundy wines. To call the the Henri Boillot label a mini-negoce does the wines a great disservice as, although Henri does not own the vineyards from which the grapes are sourced, he farms them as meticulously as if they were is own.

They are only ‘mini’ perhaps in the tiny levels of wine produced from each appellation. The meticulous and elegant Henri Boillot also owns and manages the Domaine founded by his grandfather. The sheer quality of these wines, including the impressive and exclusive Les Mouchères monopole, is testimony to the assiduous work he has done in both the vineyards and cellar.

Tasting Notes

93 Points Allen Meadows
Here too the nose is sufficiently reduced to render an assessment difficult. More interesting are the refined and beautifully textured middle weight flavors that possess very good detail on the moderately austere finale that is also compact. While not as tightly wound as the Genevrières, this will still need at least a few years of forbearance.

94-96 Points Jasper Morris
Mid primrose colour, a little bit of bacon indicating ripeness, but nothing too lush. Still has the tingle factor on the palate, and the finish offers several layers of flavour, some fresh herbs, some white fruit, a little touch of toast. Complex and complete at the same time. Excellent mineral thread to balance the weight of fruit.
