2019 Domaine Bruno Colin Puligny Montrachet ‘La Truffière’ 1er Cru

$340.00

Large swathes of Burgundy’s Côte d’Or are owned by branches of the extended Colin familyn and in Chassagne-Montrachet, Bruno Colin is the name to watch.

Bruno inherited his vineyards when his father, Michel Colin-Deléger’s estate was divided between him and his brother, Philippe. His first vintage was 2004 and he has succeeded brilliantly in building up an impressive domaine of his own. He vinifies his wines in both his father’s beautiful old cellars in the centre of Chassagne-Montrachet, and now, a brand new cellar opposite the church. He owns 8.75 hectares of vineyards spread across Puligny-Montrachet, St-Aubin, Santenay and Dezize-les-Maranges. His finest assets are the quality of his eight premier cru vineyards in Chassagne-Montrachet.

Bruno’s success is attributed to his ability to reflect the uniqueness of each vineyard, and his skill in creating expressive and alluring wines.

Description

92-94 Points Allen Meadows
This is quite firmly reduced at present and revealing nothing on the nose. Otherwise there is excellent intensity and delineation to the overtly mineral-driven flavors that culminate in a chiseled and youthfully austere finale that exudes refreshing hints of bitter lemon. This beautiful effort is classy and notably more harmonious plus it should age effortlessly.

91-94 Points Jasper Morris
There is a touch of reduction here, but with excellent intensity. Very good subtlety behind. Delicious and with impressive weight and energy, some ripe chardonnay spice, very complete all the way through and an excellent aftertaste.
