2018 Domaine François Raveneau Chablis ‘Mont Mains’ 1er Cru

$550.00

Not only does the Raveneau family own many of the finest sites in the appellation, but their wines have a steely magnificence that captures the essence of Chablis’ distinctive terroir. The greatness of Raveneau’s Chablis has even led some to suggest they deserve an appellation of their own.
Raveneau wines are famous for their longevity. In fact, many believe that a top Raveneau Chablis doesn’t hit its stride until it’s at least 8 to 10 years old. At this time, the wines not only acquire even greater richness, but layer upon layer of previously hidden flavors are revealed.
Along with René and Vincent Dauvissat, Raveneau pioneered the use of Côte d’Or winemaking in Chablis, including barrel fermentation and extended lees contact.

Description

92 Points Allen Meadows
This is more elegant and restrained with cool aromas of citrus confit, shellfish and an abundance of floral wisps. There is fine richness to the seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that are not as dense or powerful though they are more refined on the discreetly stony and super-saline finish that is slightly more persistent.

92 Points Robert Parker Wine Advocate
Wafting from the glass with aromas of green apple, iodine, fresh bread and oyster shell, the 2018 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains is medium to full-bodied, layered and satiny, with bright acids and a chalky finish. This has turned out beautifully.

92-94 Points Vinous
A wine of textural depth and resonance, the 2018 Chablis Monts-Mains 1er Cru shows terrific power and richness in its broad, sweeping feel. Even with all of its density and overtness, the 2018 retains terrific freshness to balance things out.
