Founded in 1731, Bouchard Père et Fils has built up an estate of 130ha and, collectively, is the largest owner of Grand Crus (12ha) and Premier Crus (74ha) across the Côte d’Or Bouchard Père et Fils represents almost one hundred ‘climats’ or uniquely diverse vineyards, including prestigious monopoles such as ‘Beaune Grèves Vigne de l’Enfant Jésus’ and ‘Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte’.
93 Points Allen Meadows
The naturally exotic nose freely offers up notes of spiced tea, matchstick, citrus and white orchard fruit. The generous if not lush medium weight flavors exude a fine bead of minerality onto the sappy, refined, focused and lingering finish. This classy effort is more forward than it usually is and should be approachable early on.
91-93 Points Robert Parker Wine Advocate
The 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières is another of the highlights chez Bouchard this year, unfurling in the glass with aromas of green orchard fruit, Meyer lemon and hazelnut cream. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fleshy but incisive, with tangy acids, excellent balance and impressive length. Structurally, the wine is deceptively open, but I suspect it will tense up by the time it’s bottled.
