The roots of the Leflaive family go back to 1717 when Claude Leflaive took up residence in Puligny-Montrachet, intent upon cultivating several acres of vineyards. The domaine, in its present form, was created by Joseph Leflaive between the years of 1910 and 1930, as a result of his successive purchases of vineyards and houses.
Today, the domaine extends over 24 hectares (59.3 acres) in Puligny-Montrachet, of which 4.8 hectares (11.9 acres) are grands crus and 10.8 hectares (26.7 acres) are premiers crus, all growing one varietal: Chardonnay. Since 2004 the domaine has expanded into the Mâconnais and cultivates some 20 hectares 49.4 acres) in Mâcon-Verzé and Solutré-Pouilly.

Tasting Notes

90-92 Points Allen Meadows
A cool and equally pure nose offers up notes of citrus peel, white flowers, red grapefruit and subtle wood nuances. There is excellent energy to the medium weight flavors that possess a seductive mouth feel, all wrapped in a moderately firm, balanced and solidly persistent finish. This is a bit finer than it usually is and should also reward up to a decade of bottle age.

91 Points Robert Parker Wine Advocate
The 2013 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon, which was bottled in June, has a well defined bouquet with flint and light smoky scents with just a hint of quince coming through with aeration. The palate is nicely poised with good weight on the entry, a touch of light honey and mandarin, poised if not persistent on the finish. I would afford this a couple of years in the cellar.
