A pretty nose of freshly crushed red berry fruit aromas and a touch of warm earth slides into moderately complex light to middle weight flavors that are balanced and long if rather edgy today on the somewhat gassy finish. This is frankly hard to read and while it may come together better than I imagine, it’s frankly rather awkward at present.

The Dujac estate 2007 Morey-St.-Denis is pungently herbal, black tea-like, and resinous seemingly from a combination of village typicity and the inclusion in this lot of some stems. Subtle tannic grip and invigorating salinity offer a nice foil for ripe, caramel-tinged berry fruit and a lingering, stimulating finish. Here are excellent freshness and primary juiciness for the vintage and should be delightful for at least the next 3-4 years.
