With vines whose history can be traced back one-thousand years, Domaine Bonneau du Martray is dedicated to the production of two grands crus: Corton-Charlemagne and Corton.

Two great wines, a vineyard in one location, a unique philosophy since 1835 and even beyond, Domaine Bonneau du Martray has established its excellence over the years among lovers of great wines, in Burgundy, and around the world.

The Domaine’s vines, mainly planted with Chardonnay but also with Pinot Noir, are only found on the hill of Corton. As a result, the Domaine’s team is dedicated to creating only the best: the great wines of Corton-Charlemagne and Corton.

The Domaine was recently purchased by Stan Kroenke (Screaming Eagle, Arsenal FC) and there has been significant investment put into the winery and the vineyards with the aim to elevate the quality towards the very best wines from Montrachet.

Tasting Notes

95 Points Allen Meadows
A ripe and classic nose of distinctly discreet and reserved green fruit and floral aromas that are airy, pure and lightly spiced merge into intense, precise and penetrating medium full flavors blessed with terrific acid/fruit balance and huge length. This is really a lovely wine that is presently a tightly coiled spring and in need of extended bottle aging to really put on display the superb potential here. An understated stunner of a wine as well as ultra refined and one of the best examples of this appellation in 2005.

95 Points James Suckling
My birthday celebration night in Hong Kong moved on from Moët & Chandon and Dom Pérignon 2000 to a 2005 Bonneau de Martray Corton-Charlemange, which is an old favorite of mine for great white Burgundy. I often say that great Corton-Charlemagne is a red wine masquerading as a white wine because it can be so structured and textured. This 2005 was certainly like that. Some say that Bonneau de Martray went down in quality in the 1990s but then came back in the 2000s. The 2005 that we drank was excellent quality. It was a tightly structured white with sliced apples, lemon meringue and an exquisite cream character. It was full body and silky-textured, showing a dense and beautiful palate.
