The Greenock Creek Wines story commenced in 1976 when Michael purchased a 20 acre property at Seppeltsfield in the Barossa Valley. This consisted of a rundown house with an attached orchard, and around two acres of very old Shiraz vines planted along the creek line.
In 1988 the original cellar door made its debut in a tiny cellar underneath the old house till 2016. It was from here that the 1986 Creek Block Shiraz was first released to the public.
In 1994 the Roennfeldt Road property was purchased, consisting of approximately six acres of very old Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache vines, and around eight acres of apricot orchard. The 1995 vintage was the first release of the Roennfeldt Road Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz; wines that were to become the flagship of the Greenock Creek range.
The vineyards are all dry grown so production is dependent on seasonal conditions, and the ultra-premium red wines are produced only from grapes grown on the property, making it a true boutique winery.

Tasting Notes

99 Points Robert Parker Jr.
The 2001 Shiraz Apricot Block represents a spectacular example of Barossa Shiraz. Made from 10-year-old vines cropped at 1-1.5 tons per acre, it is a dense, full-bodied Shiraz possessing fabulous intensity, great purity, and a multi-tiered, skyscraper-like mid-palate.
