Krug is the first and, as yet, only Champagne House to create prestige Champagnes every year since its foundation in 1843.
At the House of Krug, every Krug Vintage celebrates the distinct character of a particular year.
Krug Vintage is not the selection of the best wines of a good year, but the selection of the wines which better express the story of the year. The creation is then enhanced by a stay over ten years in Krug’s cellars.
95 Points Antonio Galloni
Brioche, dried pear, smoke, almonds, chamomile and wild herbs are all laced together in Krug’s 2000 Vintage. A wine of striking depth and resonance, the 2000 is absolutely gorgeous today. The first signs of very early tertiary complexity have begun to appear while the acidity is softening, both of which make the 2000 delicious today. At the same time, there is no hurry. I imagine the 2000 will still be gorgeous 20 years from now. Slight elements of reduction linger on the close. The blend is 43% Chardonnay, 42% Pinot Noir and 15% Pinot Meunier, a rare vintage in which Chardonnay is quite high.

A powerhouse, with a dense and expressive core of toasted brioche, candied kumquat, espresso crème, crystallized honey and salted pistachio flavors. The fine, creamy mousse and well-meshed acidity lend a sense of finesse that cloaks the firm structure and exuberance of this impressive Champagne. Disgorged spring 2010. Drink now through 2030.
19/20 Jancis Robinson
Deep coppery gold. Very emphatic and savoury, with a hint of something like oakiness – sort of white burgundy character. Then obviously rich and broad on the palate in terms of weight and exotically spicy before being zipped up on the notably dry end. Peacock’s tail sneaks up on you.
